“There is a saying: ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.’ Education plays an important role in creating support for the organ as an instrument—not just for today, but especially for tomorrow. It is no coincidence that in Germany, the craft of organ building has been declared intangible cultural heritage. Wim Janssen, a former employee of Verschueren Orgelbouw, developed the Do-it-yourself-Organ. Lydia Vroegindeweij from Orgelkids created an educational program to introduce children to the organ. Verschueren Orgelbouw emphasizes the importance of education, and wholeheartedly supports the initiative of Orgelkids.
Orgelkids promotes the Do-it-Yourself-Organ, provides instructional materials, and manages the rental of Do-it-Yourself-Organs. The Do-it-Yourself-Organ can be rented through Orgelkids for organ projects in education, workshops, and organ promotion. More information can be found on the Orgelkids website. If you are interested in a Do-it-Yourself-Organ yourself, please contact us! Many organ circles, churches, and educational institutions in the Netherlands and abroad have already done so!
