Internships and Learning Opportunities

Verschueren Orgelbouw is an SBB-recognized training company. If you take a closer look at our site, you will see that our company has a rich history and stands for three core values: Craftsmanship, Ambition & Attention. Since 1891, these values have guided Verschueren Orgelbouw. We are proud to convey these values to our customers both domestically and internationally.

As of 2024, new organs are still being built, restored, and maintained. The ‘craft’ of organ building has existed for centuries and is the foundation of our work. We combine this craftsmanship with ambition by incorporating modern approaches and methods into the trade. Together with a personal approach and interaction with clients, we strive for a unique (final) result.

There is no formal education for the profession of organ builder in the Netherlands. Many of our employees have trained as woodworkers, furniture makers, or fine woodworkers. Others have backgrounds as musicologists, technical draftsmen, or Academy of Music graduates. The true skills of organ building are learned in practice. Typically, this means you learn the trade in a master-apprentice relationship, in which the master teaches you the craft and guides you through these processes.

As an organ builder, you are not only involved in woodworking. Leatherworking, metalworking, and electrical engineering are also part of our profession. It is important to us that you are willing to familiarize yourself with these aspects of our work.

Future Perspective: Since there is no formal education in the Netherlands, we, at Verschueren Orgelbouw, want to provide potential organ builders with the opportunity to follow an (internal) training program. We recognize that this industry is quickly ‘aging’, and essential information and expertise risk being lost. Passing on the craft to new generations is therefore vital for us. Perhaps to you?!
